Sad and Happy.....

Mich~
Came back to work on Mon, and was bombarded with emails and tasks...arrrgghhh..i mean, I was only out of office for one day, but can you imagine the pile of work and emails i needed to clear? I guess that is part of working life, nobody can run away from it.
Today, was being called last minute to meet CEO on some urgent matters....aiyoh! Totally unprepared, I had to scramble through the working files, dig out the relevant ones, and bring them along to his office....I think this is what people always say "Kalang Kabok"! There were about 7 people inside his room already, and I realised they were discussing about "bonus". Yes, this is the time of the year, whereby everyone would be speculating about the amount of $$$ they can pocket....heehee. Nonetheless, we did not (or were not allowed) to sit through the whole meeting, so we left after answering questions related to our work.
However, do you know what is the great part? Our MD is not around for 2 weeks.....(big boss). Which means that we can breathe, talk, laugh, eat and work in a more (much more, i tell you) relaxed manner.....Hmmn....yippee!!
Tomorrow, we would also be visiting Biopolis at one-north. There has been so much hype about one-north in the media, and this is the first time I am going there, to see for myself. Of course, I would come back with feedback on the place.....great man!!

Trip to Bintan

Tom~
I enjoyed my short holiday with my Love during the 3 days-2 nights at Bintan Beach Resort!! Bintan is a small beach village all the Bintan residents leading a simple, relaxed worry-free life. Everything seemed to slow down at a pace where everyone walks and does things slowly and easily. Tourists can expect a lot of fun doing watersports, sun-tanning and swimming at the beach. The water was so clear, you can see through the water. There was powdery white sand on the beach too. Although the business transactions are mostly done in Singapore Currency, u can give them ruppiah and they will pay you back in Singapore dollars for your change.
There was not much shopping though....for Shopping Lovers. Bintan is basically a place for relaxation, for those who need a break away from the city and just chill out in the sun, sea and the sand :). As for dining, you can enjoy those nice Indonesian foods, e.g., nasi ayam, seafood fried rice, fried bee hoon...etc. There is a place called Pasar Oleh Oleh (for light shopping). It is just a small village selling tourists items, souvernirs and 2 cafes serving simple food. When the night falls, everything is just so dark, and you need the free shuttle bus from hotels to get to other villages/places, 'cos there is no lamppost by the roadside! Can you imagine roads with no lamp posts? It was kind of scary, as the drivers were making their way through the dark roads, just depending on the headlights to navigate.....We are considered really fortunate back in Singapore.

One of the interesting places we visited is The Kelong. This was the first time I experienced dining in a Kelong, with the wind and waters surrounding me. The food was quite alright, just like Singaporean style dishes and the same prices as in Singapore :)
There are more watersports at Mana Mana Resorts..but pity we did not go, as we reckon that everything would need to be paid/rented to enjoy the sporting activities.
So for those seeking fun and a short holiday break, sun-lovers who loves swimming and suntanning, and who do not mind paying a bit more for the fun, Bintan is the place to go!

Bintan.....here we come!

Mich~
Folks folks...been too busy to blog..haha..sorrie!
This evening, I went with my ONE to watch the movie "The Sentinel". I am glad that we went (finally....after much hesitations in the car), because we find that the movie was quite action-packed and thrilling. I especially liked to watch Michael Douglas, he is still suave and charming, despite the fact that he is older than some of the young actors. Haha...my ONE also agreed with me...(**so, you know what I liked, right?).

Finally, we decided to take a break...well-deserved one....yes! We are heading for Bintan this weekend!! Heard about the nice sandy beaches, sunset, sunrise...etc, and this time, we shall see for ourselves!! Both of us are very "sua ku" lah, never been there before. We also heard that Zhengjie is celebrating his birthday this weekend...
ZJ: Sorry for not been able to attend. I am sure you will have a whale of your time on Sunday, with lots people with you....and of course, the ever so sooooo cute Mei Mei (JL). Gonna miss her lots overseas....(check it out!!)

Tom~

Zhengjie, sorry...me and Ah Yi are not able to attend your Birthday Party, but we would like to wish u a Happy Birthday, and many Happy Returns of the day. It's your day enjoy...U are a big boy now, must take care of Mei Mei, she is still young........
During lunchtime, i went to the money changer, and changed S$100 for Indonesia Rupiah $540,000. Wow, how good it would be if it was Singapore Dollars, hahaha.......

Well, I have never been to the Indonesia Islands or Bintan, thus it would be good to explore Bintan and get a feel of real islander life. I mean, not the Boring Sentosa Islander life.....hahaha
I look forward to the Bintan Trip with My Love.....she deserved a break for covering people's work back in office...hmmn....

Long Weekends

Tom~
Yesterday, I went shopping with My Love, and we redeemed tickets from M1, for a movie on this coming Tues. After that, we headed for shopping at Paragon and Takashimaya.
For dinner, we went to Wisma Atria Level 4 - The Food Republic, I queued up for the Thye Hong fried hokkien mee. It was really quite delicious!! We also ordered claypot rice, it was so-so. We saw a lady pushing a Tim Sum food cart, and got some Tim Sum. It was yummy and the whole atmosphere and feeling was great, and felt like going back to the good old days of 1960s.

Today, we went to Sentosa. Admist the hot weather, we still had fun exploring Sentosa by the Tram and shuttle bus services. Every station e.g. Fort Silsco, Images of Singapore, Artists Village, The Merlion Top Tower and The Rolving Tower required entrance fees, so I think it is meant for tourists. Activities like beach volleyball, suntanning and swimming is free...luckily......

We tried out The Luge near the Merlion, where we paid $10 for the rides...We slide down using a small vehicle. It is quite special, u pull backwards to brake and push forward for more freeplay. After sliding down to the bottom of the hill, we tried the mini cable, where you are seated, with your legs dangling in the air, quite fearful at the great heights.....

Tired Day......

Tom~
Yesterday night,I rushed out both my school projects till 5am ....phew!! I could hardly have any sleep and rest.....But after having coffee, I am feeling great now.....:)
Guess i was having last min work, but in the end, i still did up my stuff......Well, i started my research earlier, so guess things are better....

Mich~
I guess both my ONE and I had tiring days recently. Today, by the time I stepped out of office, night had approached. These days, have been in office till late evening. There are quite a bit of work to be rushed, deadlines and deadlines...no end to it. Today, Santa pulled to 2 meetings with her, and I was in the midst of rushing my work. Sh**!! What to do? Bosses cannot be defied, right? Santa was also "gan cheong" about one particular task, and was concerned about the pressing time. Finally, she realised the urgency of things......After meeting, I still had to meet my other boss, and discussed with him till 7pm+.

Electrosurgery??

Mich~
I just went to see my dermatologist yesterday, and she did an AHA peel & electrosurgery on me. Haha...what is electrosurgery?? Well, she used an electric-like metal to zap off those small oil-like growth on my eyelid. I was feeling irritated by those little things on my lid, and I told of checking with her. And when she heard about it, she told me it would be a simple process to zap them off. In the end, I decided to make a go for it, and the procedure took about 1 min. Your upper lid would just feel a tingling electric sensation, for just a few seconds. Phew!! It was over finally. Today, my eyes is still a bit swollen, and guess it would take some time to recover...probably a few days. My skin is still a bit sore after the peel, and would need some time for the dead skin to peel off too.

Suay, suay......!!

Mich~
Very suay...worked late today, by the time I left office, it was 8 pm. I think I was the last to leave the office. When I reached home, omigosh!! The lift, suddenly...stopped at 10th floor. Goodness, my ONE and I were trapped in the lift..sigh!! Suay...of all days, today, when I worked late, and now I am trapped. My ONE called the rescue people immediately, and the answer on the other end of the line was that they would take about 20 mins to reach!! Hah? I exclaimed in disbelief....what happens if old people or young children are trapped?? They could get heart attack, or be wailing out loud. There were 3 of us inside, my ONE and I and one of our neighbours. Luckily, he was still quite spirited, and chit chatted with us inside the "tiny box".
I guessed we waited for at least 30 mins, made numerous calls to the hotline and home, before we were being "rescued". The so-called "rescue operation" was just an uncle, holding a bunch of keys, and opening the keyhole outside the lift.....phew!! He did it in just 2 mins, while we were trapped for 30 mins, and spent $$$ making calls.
May I suggest HDB to install an automatic alert system in the lifts, such that once the alarm bell is pressed, the central hotline would be activated. Wouldn't this save much time and $$ for everyone? I am sure a one-time investment is worth all the effort and bucks. Surely, we do not want to wait for "something to happen" before someone takes action on matters.

Relieve stress........

Mich~
I woke up at 3 am this morning, and had difficulty getting back to sleep. By the time I woke up at 7 am, I was half zombie. Throughout the whole day in office, I was basically following through the motion to get things done. And the worse part was that there were tonnes of work waiting for my attention. The aunties also kept hu ha about a lot of work. I think, these few days, they are quite "eng", after the year end. So, many of them have all the time in the world. Some take leave, some are in the office (chit chatting, don't know doing what). Phew!! What a blessing for them, I told myself! And the reason for my insomnia, I think, is work-induced stress. Otherwise, how do you explain for the loss of sleep? Even colleague J said I am like a superwoman!
Came across this website which is quite interesting..www.sina.com.tw. They have a fair bit of taiwan entertainment news. Yes, I need that, to relieve my stress.....maybe...

Weekend!!

Mich~
Yesterday was a terrible day for me, I was called in to see MD for 2 matters. As usual, he kept asking us a lot of questions, and harped on matters relating to past practices. I tell you, this MD is really mad...sigh..he kept asking a lot of "why you all did this in the past...why why, why". Even our bosses kept quiet. If you need him to approve something, you can be assured that he will call you in, ask you a lot of "whys", before he is convinced to approve matters. And i really hate that "factory lady" (my co-colleague), she can really become MCS artiste, as she can really act very well. Even J also cannot stand her, as she was complaining to me after that. And not once, but twice, I had to sit inside MD's room, watching this person act...and act..Walau!! Spare me, please. And after seeing the MD, we need to report the happenings to Santa (of course lah, she is our boss mah). And the end of the day, I was dog-tired, packed my bag, and left off....
Now, I do not know who is the idi** who left a silly message on my blog. Anyway, I cannot be bothered by such trivial matters, and am not going to let this affect my weekend mood. This morning was especially fulfilling, and My ONE and I went to exercise early in the morning. This is the second time I exercised in this week, and I was totally happy by my own motivation. Thereafter, we "tapau" breakfast back for mum & ourselves, and ended up eating and chatting happily over the sumptuous food. Today will be a fun-filled and relaxing day, I am sure about that.
But I was somehow saddened by the deaths of people at the sunken ferry at Bahrain. I was reading the papers this morning, and there were 4 Singaporeans dead in this catastrophe. Sad sad...and mostly were there due to work commitments. Their families here must be devastated, and my heart goes out to them.
Today, might go shopping with my ONE, as he finally finished his exams...!! Woohoo!! Now, we can relax...he has been busy studying and "K'g" books over the last few weeks, and it is time for us to relax....finally...just for a while.
