Trip to JB!!

Tom~
We left S'pore about 12pm in the afternoon, and managed to clear JB customs by 12.30plus. We went for lunch at taman sentosa - claypot bak kuh tea. After that, we went to JB City Square and did some shopping (and window shopping). My ONE bought a new shoe at Vinnci, and it was having a 50% sale there. The cyberzone on the 4th floor was spacious, and had lots shops and eateries, which were quite similar to the ones at Bugis, The Edge.
The shop "Living Quarters" located on the 4th level was like a mini Ikea, and it was having closing down sale. In the end, we bought 12 forks and teaspoons for RM$11....it's a real deal. We also bought some DVDs, most of them are the latest movies.
After a few hours of shopping, we went to Mcdonalds for a coffee break. We the proceeded to Giant for more shopping, and realized that lots of changes had taken place e.g., a few shops were no longer around.
We had dinner at JB Giant Domino's pizza, for 2 person RM$23, you get a pizza, 2 cans of coke and 6 garlic breads. If you convert to S$, it is around $6 per person...real cheap...and it was nice and tasty.
What an eventful day...and by the time we reach home, we were tired...from all the walking and shopping. I guess this could be one way to spend the weekend, if anyone is bored from shopping around in SG, and ran out of ideas on where to hang out in SG.

Some of the stuff which we bought at City Square.... Too little, right? Shall buy more on our next trip.

Going to JB on Sat

Today is Friday, I am so glad that time files so fast. I would be driving up to north (JB) on Saturday for shopping, eating and drinking with my Love. I have a few places in mind, which include Giant Hypermarket, Komtar, Carrefour, Johor Bahru City Square, Plaza Kotaraya, JB Duty Free Complex near the seaport, Plaza Pelangi, X'tra Supercentre and Permas Point.
Our lunch should be in JB, and for dinner, I thought of going further up for some nice seafood dinner. Ok, until then, i shall upload some photos after our short trip to malaysia.

Busy...busy...

Mich~
Busy busy after my absence on Mon..everyday, new tasks keep coming up...suppose this is a good sign??? Well, our new boss, "Santa Claus" seems to like to pass up work to us. Somehow, with the gift of her gab, she can ask you to do things without you being able to let her know your limitations....so in the end, I realise you are the one suffering....muahaha...
Santa Claus also asked me if I wanted to rotate to other units in my dept..Of course, I told her! Again, she did not give me a concrete timeline or plan...hope it is not another case of "empty joy"...
So, I can only pour my woes to Ah Gou lor, only she can understand the office politics here.
I ask my ONE to fix the appointment to visit the bridal shop one of the days...aiyoh, he is sooo busy..seminars lah, roadshows lah...blah..so, in the end , he end up calling the shots on the date of our appointment......(poor me!)

Fell SICK.........

Mich~
Woke up this morning feeling a huge pain in my throat, and blockage in my nose....oh NO!! I fell sick too....hmmn...in the end, went with my ONE to visit the doctor. Both of us on MC today, really in need of rest and sleep. WOW! Just a 45 mins' visit to the doctor costs both of us $58. Sigh! These days, really cannot afford to fall sick...otherwise, u need to save up a $$$ nest to cater for such contingencies.....
Now, really need to catch some sleep................oh yah, going to call the cable company too.

Internet is UP....but.....

Mich~
Been busy over the weekend! Yesterday, I went to bugis to shop...and today, we went IKEA. It was crowded, even though the festive season was over. In the end, we reach home at about 8pm+. Now, I am feeling tired and sleepy....we just managed to set up our new cable modem internet line. We subscribe to it recently and started to install it tonight. Guess what, we had problems installing, and when we tried to call the customer hotline, it took our ages (i swear, it was at least 30 mins) to talk to a human being!!! This is the setback of technology advancement over humans...
In the end, my ONE found the root of the problem. Our bedrooms' SCV points were not activated...and we have been living with it for 6 years!! Can you imagine?? And here we are, 11pm++, in the living room surfing net. Tomorrow, I am definitely going to call the XXX company and complain about the activation. How can they do it to us? If we did not try through trial and error, who is there to help us realise and solve the problem? Humans do not seem to advance together with technology....
Ok, enough of venting our frustrations...my ONE is not feeling well (bout of flu and running nose)....need to go to slumberland soon.....hmmn..tomorrow, I shall update you one the progress of my complaint!

Taking Things for Granted

Mich~
Been busy these days...even though we spend a simple v day on 14 Feb 06, but what is important is the thought and feelings that count, and not the elaborate events on that day.
I am sure everyone heard about the shocking gunman who shot down the businessman yesterday! Now, I really begin to wonder if SIngapore is safe afterall, and we have been taking a lot of things for granted (safety, security, people). In the first place, how did the person manage to sneak in the gun....were there any lapses in the security system?
I actually plan to go JB this saturday, but Ah Gou just told me JB having Chingay this Sat...ooppps...! Disappointing, still evaluating the options (to go or not to go?)...sigh...

Love is in the Air

Tom~
Love is in the air...how did u all spend the lovely valentine day? Well, for me i spent my valentine day with my loved one. I had a special gift from her and we went for dinner at Hong Kong Street (Fish Head Bee Hoon) at the bukit timah branch (yummy!!) I thought of bringing her to Sixth Ave at first, as I heard that they had got a nice restaurant serving delicious brazilian beef steaks cuisines. Anyway, everyday is a valentine day for all lovers, if u spend enough time with him or her and give them all the love and attention....don't u agree? Check out our photos!!!!

Yuan Xiao Jie

Yesterday was "Yuan Xiao", so we had a family gathering at my sis' place. Everyone was having fun, with the "kids" (big + small kids) swimming, and the womenfolk preparing to whip up a sumptuous meal...everyone had laughter on their faces! For me, did not really help to cook, because there were already 3 great chefs busying in the kitchen. By dinnertime, we were laying out the table and getting ready to prepare the "Yusheng". This year, we prepared our own ingredients for the Yusheng, 'cos those bought from restaurants do not have as much ingredients as our own. Check out the Yusheng, looks delicious, right?

Yummy yummy....Of course, the tradition would be to mention auspicious words during the tossing, in hope that this year would be a lucky lucky one, full of good wealth and health...lucky lucky!

After dinner, everyone was feeling satisfied..and gathered to watch tv or play with the kids. Thereafter, we had the cake cutting session...wow!! In celebration of my dad's belated birthday, we cut the cake. The cake was very delicious, bought from Lana Cakes at Greenwood Ave. It was really nice, soft and spongy.....(trying is believing!!).

TOTO!!!!

Mich~
We have a new boss today...but she has yet to really formally introduce herself to us. We heard that she is still busy handing over her duties to Princess J, so she is kept busy all day. I only met up briefly with her this afternoon in a meeting, and we did not get to talk to each other much. Well, everyone in my unit is adopting a cautious attitude these few days, "wait and see" what happens.
For me, the short term wish is to "strike toto tomorrow"!! Yes, "no hope, no gain"......Haha, pray hard...hopefully, lady luck will strike us tomorrow...may my $20 venture reap rewards for me....

Greener Pastures

Mich~
Today is my boss' last day. She called us in into the meeting room (one and one) and told us some parting words. She said "you are a very good & meticulous staff, and you can deliver tasks given to you...blah blah..Take care and all the best". Hearing these words...tears were beginning to well up in my eyes, but I held them back. I know that I should not shed a tear for her, because her departure would be a blessing for her. Undeniably, we feel a sense of sadness to lose a boss / colleague at our office. Everyone seems very "gan cheong" at wishing her, so the mood in office was relaxed and a bit.....*ahem* lazy....
In fact, I know she would be leaving for greener pastures...no doubt about that.
Ah GOU told me yesterday that she is getting married in Oct...! Another red bomb!! She is marrying off to Segamat leh...wow! Far far away....I do not know if I can attend her wedding or not...scared "chong" with my big day....sob sob.....:(

8th Day of CNY....

Mich~
Really very sorry...have not been blogging for long...today is the 8th day of CNY, and guess for many of us, the festive mood is fading off gradually. For me, my new year was spent feasting, feasting and more feasting. Hmmn, now, it is time to shed some kilos. If anyone of u knows of any effective ways to do so, pls let me know. Remember, it would be about 335 days to my wedding! Phew! Yes, trying hard to resist all the food temptations.
I went for a friends' gathering yesterday, and wow..did not realise that vegetarian dishes could be so fanciful and delicious. Thanks to Lilian & family for the warm hospitality. And I realised that I have a lot of friends getting hitched in the year of the dog... There would at least be 3 more pairs of couples walking down the aisle....whosh! All the hotels and bridal shops must be laughing their way to the banks.....
Busy...busy and still busy at work. I just got to know the "SH**" that I would bear today. My boss says everyone has a share, but she missed out on the part on who bears more than the others (either deliberately or not...)..if I have more time next time, I would elaborate on the details. But as u would understand, it is not something I am proud of. So, what is the point in saying when no one can lend a hand to me?
Well, well....back to reality...the lure of $$$ would keep me going.....

Monday blues......

Monday is back again...need to work...:(
Had a chat with colleagues on the vision of goals in the golden year, some colleagues were planning for kids in the year of dog, some were getting married soon.
One of my colleagues booked the bridal concept, and I am looking forward to see their wedding photos after May.

Fourth Day of CNY

Mich~
What a holiday! Time just flew and before you knew it, it would be back to work...I took leave today, just wanted to relax and spend time at home. However, the sad truth would still set in, as it is back to work tomorrow.....
I finally finished my HK serials...happy that I finished this mini milestone over the festive season, but sad that I would be quite "empty" these days. I mean, this sense of loss would follow me for a few days. There would no longer be those late nights of watching vcds continuously, discussion with my mum about the plot, and waking up the next morning feeling fatigued due to insufficient zzzzzz.....
