Arab Street

Found a good place to shop for real nice cloth over the weekend. It is at Arab Street, and if anyone of you are looking for nice cloth (organza, satin, lace..etc), you name it, they have it there. My ONE and I were browsing in delight at the shops there, and it was really quite enchanting. Of course, to shop around there, you have to speak some English, as most of the shop owners there are Indians or Malays...(but trust me, many of them can speak Hokkien)! After being there for about 3 hours, I ended up being poorer by 50 bucks! I bought a nice piece of satin organza cloth for my curtains at home. Now, yet to see the final product, and they are still works-in-progress!
But if you guys are looking for nice evening dresses / curtain / gown materials, that is the place to go to. Some of the shops there sell nice beads and crystals too, perfect for gals out there who love making your own accessories. Check this out!

MD...santa claus

Mich~
Just recovered from the fatigue of the wedding gown trials...(ok lah, not as bad..maybe I am weaker than the normal people). So today, after work, I decided to go home early to rest and relax :) Office people has started talking about the reshuffling, but things are still airy fairy....so it is just more and more speculation....Well, MD MD....hope you can listen to our woes for once..just once.
I went in to see MD today, shit...he was in a bad mood..wrong time for me to see him. Of course, it wasnt that I volunteered to see him, but he wanted to see me to discuss something. After I came out of his room, I still cannot really figure out what he wants. You see, he is a very "unpredictable" person, and changes his mind quite frequently. When I mean frequent, it is really very very frequent. Haha..decide to leave the big ??? to santa claus, to help me solve it.
** in case you are wondering, MD is my big boss...and Santa claus is my immediate boss....now you know?

Wedding Gown Trying

Mich~
I went for my wedding gown trial today, and got pretty excited and happy at the end of it. It was not too bad, and I was trying hard to make up my mind on which gown I would eventually don on for the actual day. The girls at the bridal shop were busy choosing a variety of gowns for me, and I was like a puppet, changing in and out from those pretty pretty gowns. I did not even have time to browse around, and see what they have. Before I went down, I was still doubtful about what I would wear, and the types of gowns that would suit me. Now, I think I have a better idea already.

Initially, the shop wanted to assign me to one young, inexperienced lady...but i said "No, I wanted a change"...and I am glad I did that!! Phew, in the end, Elaine was helpful and patient in assisting me. And with my advisers (brought along my sis and mum) with me, it was quite interesting. Actually, I realised that different people would have different opinions, so if you are not prepared to take in others' views, it might be best for a couple to go on their own.
Unfortunately, the shop doesn't allow phototaking....:(
My ONE and I were pretty excited at the end of it, and the feeling of getting married seemed to start settling in........

Movements...changes...

Today, there are a lot of movements in the office. Shift photocopier, arrange the cabinets, shred paper...phew!! So I kept hearing noises passing by my cubicle. Apparently, the MD is making changes to the office layout. The photocopier has been shifted to far far away from me....muah muah muahh...I need to exercise more in future, if I need to photocopy any documents. Everyone is cursing and swearing at the MD...**@*##, this person is making our lives in office more and more difficult. Worse of all, there is a television (as in this person's aide), who keeps poking into the things we say and do in the office. No personal space in the office at all!!!!

Food Fair 2006 at Suntec

Tom~
We went to the Food Fair 2006 at Suntec, there were lots of free food sampling and lots of Singaporeans buying food...Singaporean just loved to eat, eat and eat, hee hee....
Thereafter, we shopped around Citylink and Marina Square, had coffee break at the Food Loft, ate some dim sum and drank fruit juice. We saw people queuing up at the BBQ roast duck food stall, and we thought it would be nice to buy some back home. In the end, we bought some bbq char siew back for dinner, and it was yummy! The meat was tender, sweet, and not too oily! You can try the roasted meat there, it is at Marina Sq food loft, the stall is called "Jia Le Roasted Food".
Finally, we bought "Forever Friends" bears at Precious Thots for our wedding mascots. They are 2 bears, and we would use them for our photoshoot in June and as our wedding car decor. Guess what, the sales girl was kind enough to give us 10% discount, total price was $98.10. Of course, the price of Wedding = priceless ........

See the huge crowd at Suntec!

These are our wedding bears....(I know lah, they are very common).

Major Reshuffling

Mich~
Yesterday, I happened to hear from colleague J that there would be a major staff reshuffling in the office. Hah? I exclaimed, and it seemed that most of us were affected! Why were we not told, I asked myself? Apparently, it seemed that only the bosses had a discussion on this, and our immediate boss did not disseminate this information to us...**^%$##. Not fair, i was thinking, and other colleagues knew it before us, and we were the victims!
Then, over lunch, colleague L also said she heard the same thing from the grapevine. She started telling us what she heard (apparently, she is as blurrr as me), and I had to piece the information I heard from 2 sources together. Walau!! There is no transparency in the office anymore! What happened to all the theory about open communication, frankness...blah blah??
I asked colleague C after that, and she also heard something...but again, it seemed hush hush. Nobody seemed to be telling everyone...sigh. Disappointing.....
Nonetheless, these plans would only take off in June (as what we heard), so till then, nobody knows what will happen. Maybe before the time comes, more changes could take place to allow the plan to materialise.
In the meanwhile, I am keeping my fingers crossed...yes........(that the plan would materialise soon!!).

Late Night Rendevous?

Ah Guo just told me she saw 2 colleagues (B+G) at JB customs, coming back to Singapore, on the last late Mon night....(sorry, after correction from the witness, it is Fri night!!) Wow! Our minds starting running wild on what happened, as these 2 people seemed a bit unusual to be spotted together, alone...all the more late on a Mon night. Usually, I see them going for lunch together in a gang. Well, I think anything can happen, since the 2 persons are still single (i think so lah...based on my grapevine information).
Ok, shall not let my mind run wild, in case I influence the people reading this blog. We should be giving the people the benefit of the doubt. And since both are still available, there is nothing wrong even if they are an item...(but I am not saying that they are).
My colleague, "long legs", irritated me again today. She was on MC for the last 2 days, and i covered her duty for some urgent work. When she was back today, she asked me (not face to face, but via msn) why she saw my signature on the documentation. Of course lah...u don't know meh?? In my heart, I was thinking, if I had not covered her, then who else would be so kind? She had the cheek to ask me why she saw my name there.....#@** Perhaps she was not trying to "interrogate" me, but she should have the politeness to say a word of "thanks". Did she? Of course no lah, what do you think? At that moment, I realised that it might not pay (after all) to be kind and helpful. So ah gou, if you are reading this, don't ask me to cover "long legs" again!!

Blue blue.....

Mich~
Today is a blue blue day, maybe 'cos it is the start of a new week. Everyone in the office seems blue blue also...somehow, everyone's temper in the office seems a bit hot these days (hopefully it is due to the peak period now)...and my boss was late for work!! I cannot imagine, and big big boss has been advocating punctuality, but a lot of people have not been setting a good example...well, so no one can blame us if we were found to be late for work.....
I had a tiring weekend..went back to my new house on Fri, and of course, I had to be the "maid" of the house. And I woke up at 6am on Sat morning, went to airport to send my BIL off, then went back to sleep for 2 hours, then went off, as my ONE has to rush to school....Tired tired...Not wanting to waste the Sat night, we had claypot rice at Chinatown, before heading back home for the movie "40 year-old virgin". It is one of those unrated, no brainer, hilarious show...what a good way to de-stress and spend a Sat nite!
I think, come this weekend, I really deserve a good break!!

Star Cruise

Tom~
My parents-in-law are boarding the star cruise this evening....look at the huge vessel.
I hope they have fun on the cruise, sailing around south china sea, then around malaysia, before heading back home to S'pore HarbourFront on Sunday.
What a view from the sea!! Look, she is so beautiful, stunning and eye-catching.....

Peace of Mind???

Mich~
I am still recovering from my sickness (bad bout of flu and fever), and the doctor kept telling me that it is nothing serious (been to see 2 doctors over a span of 3 days)...he said that I should recover by this weekend. We shall see, hopefully....
And today, it happened that our company had free health screening for all staff. On top of this free screening, you can pay $100+ for a comprehensive health screening package, and I opted for it. Even though some of my colleagues said that "they are still young...nothing to worry, why waste the money....", I decided that it is better to be safe than sorry. Since I wasnt in the pink of health recently, I thought it would be timely to have a full body checkup. The whole process took about 15 mins, which include taking 3 tubes of my blood, and a small bottle of my uri**. I was a bit paiseh at first, as I needed some time to drink more water and.......(you know lah). But at the end of it, I was thankful that I decided to take those tests. I guess the few hundred bucks could buy a peace of mind. And thank God if I am given a clean bill of health........

Shocking News

Mich~
Got a shock today! My friend, told me she wants to file for divorce with her husband. Hah..?? I asked her repeatedly if she was sure, and she was adamant about it. I could not believe it, as she was married for only about 2 years ++. On my further probing, I began to realise that the crack in her marriage was really beyond repair. She cited several reasons on why she wanted a divorce, and I began to empathise with her. It turned out that her husband has been hiding several things from her, one of which included his religious belief. When my friend realised it recently, she got the shock of her life. She could not believe that her other half was quite "obsessed" with this belief, to the extent of doing things which are out of ordinary....believe it, when she told me, I felt goose pimples popping up...It came to a point that she was actually fearful of him, of what would be the things that he could do in future (if any). Guess that was the breaking point for her, and she made up her mind from there. It also seemed that he was abusive, and he did not really repent and make amends as he promised.
Sigh...it really made me to think of how fragile a marriage could be. And i could still recall vividly the day when she told me she was getting married to this guy, I actually asked her if she was sure. At that moment, she gave me a firm "yes" and cited deep love for him as the reason. Now, look at how things took a turn, and how feelings could change over time........how about you? Are you truly sure of your feelings before jumping into a relationship?

Relaxing Sunday

Tom~
To My Loved, i am sorry for the Sat lunch food tasting and i tried to make it up to you by having dinner at York Hotel...hehee.. The food there wasn't great, and parking at Goodwood Park Hotel is no longer free. Thus, we parked our car at Far East Shopping Centre instead.
Sunday was a bright and sunny day, and we went to the Career Job Fair 2006 at Suntec convention hall to keep ourselves abreast of the current job market. In the end, we found out that it was full of crap as the majority of the stalls were education booths. There was not much jobs except for Keppel Shipyard, TECH Semiconductor, some small local companies and The Home Team (Police, SCDF and the Prison). Why are the banks: UOB, HSBC and DBS missing? If they were to organize an education fair, the banks should be there to support this major event! All the big universities (including overseas ones) were there to attract the next intake of students.

Thereafter, we went to Suntec City, and saw the Army, Navy and Air Force having a big scale recruitment fair. They also had some unarmed combat show and some NS guys singing (not bad, could take part in Singapore Idol instead of singing up with armed forces...hahaha). They also had soldiers who dressed up as snipers in camouflages (army sharp shooters), and some advanced technology soldiers with all the special high-tech equipment walking around the fair for viewers to see and take photos.

Then, we had coffee at suntec city food court , the ah hock kopi with bread was not bad. We also tasted some red wine and obtained some prices at the red wine section at Carrefour: Cabernet Sauvignon and Château Lafite-Rothschild, Château Margaux. It was all thanks to the kind and helpful promoter who kept asking us to try out different brands of red wine. We declined, not wanting to get drunk. We proceeded to Marina Sq food court and had a simple meal for dinner as My Love wasn't feeling well. In the night, I drove her to Woodlands Road clinic, the doctor said she had a sensitive nose, he gave her some medicine and antibiotics. She had an MC for Monday for her to rest. I hope she will recover soon.

Irritating Things Keep Happening

Mich~
I was irritated during Sat, and it was My ONE who did it! Sigh...he arranged a luncheon with his family and in the end, we end up having the makan session in a rush...can u imagine? We finished a 9 course meal in an hour's time...phew! I was left panting when we went off, and he had to rush off to school. I told him we should skip this lunch outing, but it was one of those meals which....by his definition, it was a "must attend" session. I really don't see the point, but was left exasperated trying to persuade him to miss it. In the end, I had to "surrender", and attend the outing with him. Fuming mad..(yah, u shd have seen me lose my temper)..and I had to gobble up 9 dishes in one hour.....##@**
By evening time, I was more or less appeased...and My ONE made it up to me by treating me to a dinner at York Hotel. It was one of those "free meal ('cos of voucher)" which we had, so we decided to dine there. The food was so-so lah, nothing spectacular. These were the dishes we had...not really sumptuous, but we were really full after the meal, because we ordered quite a number of dishes, in order to utilise the voucher fully...(yah, KS syndrome).

So, in a way, this meal made up for all the "wrongs" he did in the morning, even though I was not entirely convinced. What to do? I cant blame him forever, correct?

Then, today, i came down with a bout of flu, sore throat and blocked nose...I am sick again. Barely recovered one week ago, and now I need to take all the various types of funny medication again. Sigh..doctor said I have sensitive nose, and need to consider using a nasal spray of the problem persists. Now, I am praying hard that I would recover soon....pray for me too......

Updates...updates...

Mich~
I recall I need to update everyone on my Internet access problem. In the end, I realised that the cable signals in my bedroom was not activated....OMG! This means that I am here, in my living room, surfing the Net. Sigh..I called up the cable company, and they told me that sending the technician down would cost me transport costs (minimum), plus any other activation costs. In the end, I gave up trying to negotiate with the lady over the phone! She refused to budge, to even waive the transport costs. I decided to live with what I have, since I would only need it for...hmmn...10 more mths. Yah, in 10 mths' time, would need to vacate my current place, and relocate to my new home....after marriage....yah, things would not be the same anymore.
My colleague in office...shall call her "long legs", kept irritating me in office. I have been trying to brief her on some tasks, and she kept procrastinating!! She kept tell me she is not free...busy...blah. Who isnt? I was fed up, and she kept acting "blurrr" when people ask her about work. Sigh...pissed. I do not want to talk about it anymore, will try to get her to accomplish what I want her to do...soon.
